I won a singing contest at the age of 7 and the rest is history.
More recently, I split my time between singing, being on-air on the radio waves, and creating lots of content ranging from music to lifestyle to beauty.
As a true millennial, I'm online a fair bit, sharing parts of my life. (Scroll for the long life story.)
I began recording covers on a lousy digital camera in secondary school, posting them on YouTube – probably my first taste of creating and sharing content. And years later, I still enjoy sharing and being creative. Adult Shanice couldn't be happier to be singing, performing, talking, and creating for work.

Oh, how the years go by
Having spent her formative years in Perth, Shanice had an exposure to different avenues of the performing arts. She discovered her passion for singing when she joined her school choir at the age of 7. After being given a solo, she found the confidence to participate in and win 1st place at her school's talent quest when she was 10, singing "Part of Your World". Her newfound love of performing encouraged her to join a performing troupe to gain more on-stage experience.
Upon returning to Singapore, Shanice was casted in musicals and sang in her schools' choirs where she was given solos and opportunities to perform in countries like Italy and the Czech Republic.
As a young adult wanting well-rounded growth, Shanice participated in competitions while still studying in Junior College and University. In 2013, she balanced Year 1 of Junior College with being a contestant on the national reality singing competition on Mediacorp Channel 5, The Final 1, making it to the top 20. In 2015, even more determined, Shanice auditioned for Season 2 of The Final 1, making it to the top 7, while in Year 1 of University.
Since 2015, Shanice has been performing at gigs – from events, to weddings, and even private performances. She has worked with companies such as American Express, The Ritz-Carlton, Standard Chartered, Timbre, the Esplanade, and even performed for Singapore's former President, Halimah Yacob. Shanice has always had an inclination towards genres like pop, alternative R&B, indie-pop, but often explores different genres at her gigs. With plans of furthering her musical journey, she has original music in the works. Her covers and videos can be viewed on her YouTube, Instagram (@shanicehedger & @thestaircaseduo), and tiktok.
A big believer in pushing her boundaries, Shanice was a top 15 finalist in the Miss Universe Singapore 2016 competition and spent an eye-opening 3-month journey to the crown. In 2017, Shanice was a finalist in Class 95 FM's Radio Star competition, and took home the Carlsberg Smoothest Voice award.
No stranger to the mic, she is a natural engager when it comes to hosting events, dinners, web shows, and even livestreams. Shanice has worked with brands such as AIA, Sephora, Love, Bonito, E! Online Asia (What The Fad?! [co-produced] and Extra!) and Shopee.
After graduating from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2019, Shanice has been singing, hosting, and creating content. And she kickstarted 2022 by embarking on an exciting journey with Class 95 (Mediacorp) as a Radio DJ accompanying you over radio waves.
